A full address is always useful and is often found on the organisation's website which in this instance is at

As identified by reserved, the website gives a 0870 number for use "from abroad", although it will work equally as well when called from the UK: 0870 423 0416. Due to the removal of Service Charge (which supported revenue sharing) on 0870, many landline providers now charged no more for 0870 calls than they do for 01, 02 and 03 calls. In general, mobile operators still charge 0870 at a premium. Thus, the 0870 number may be a suitable alternative depending on the tariff of the chosen mode of telecommunication.
The fax number is 01629 814958, but I believe that this is a number on its own and not part of any block that the surgery may use.
The practice number is C81016 and hence e-mail addresses are of the form firstname.lastname@gp-c81016.nhs.uk.
I found the telephone number quoted on many pages is 01629 812871 and I suspect that this is the old one used prior to the introduction of the 0844 Business Rate number. It is now unobtainable.
According to Phone Book Companion October 1998, Bakewell BT exchange has just one block 01629 81 and I therefore suggest that the number that we are searching for is prefixed with those digits. With such a small possibility of numbers, I think that we have a good chance of sleuthing it.
I get the impression that we need to be looking in the 816 and 817 area due to the fact that those lower appear to be individually allocated numbers and that these two blocks are used by what appear to be businesses with blocks. 816200 is for the National Park Authority and I suspect that these go up to 599.
A few pages give 01629 816631, including
this booklet on sexual health amongst teens. Within the 81663x block, there is:
30 Nick Derbyshire, Practice Manager
31 Sara Land, Community Matron
32 District Nurses
33 Morag Fanshaw, Health Visitor

40 is not recognised, so they don't appear to go upwards and 28 answers as Pinelog. So none of these match the 0870/0844 numbers. Perhaps 34 and/or 35 are for reception; you will have to try them during hours.
Please let us know what you try and how you get on. If you find an alternative, please let us know so that we can list it for others to use.
