It seems to have come from here
http://www.contact-helpline.info/samsung.html

You ring at £1.53 per min and get a recorded message that gives you the real number.
Basically an expensive directory inquiry service

"Calls cost £1.53 per call plus network extras
Dialling the above number will read out a recorded message that will provide you with the telephone number to contact the above service. Users must be eighteen years plus. Please have a pen and paper to hand. You will not be connected directly to a telephone advisor. "

Try Googling Samsung customer service
This is the first one to come up
samsung.contactnumberuk.com

25th hit http://findphonenumbers.co.uk/c/42/samsung-phone-number.html

and more after.

Simple scam.
Buy a block of premium numbers and forward them to popular landlines, then heavily advertise. Reap profits.

4th Entry down is Samsung's Official Site.. so it's not that hard to find in fairness.

A little bit of Searching

But why do they say that?

Both of those numbers are charged at exactly the same rate.

Indeed... perhaps they are being cautious, as the 03 range is still not understood by all.. including companies or organisations who have 03 numbers.

Sad

Today I received an email from Samsung support which included. " You can contact our Mobile Support Team on 0330 726 7864 option 3, then 2. ...
Calls to 0330 numbers cost no more than 5 pence per minute + set-up fee for BT residential customers;.".  My call had over 2.5 mins of 'talk' before I was connected to support.

Yet the Ofcom guide 'Prices correct as at 18/07/2012' says "How much do [03] calls cost? Calls cost no more than calls to geographic numbers (01 or 02) and must be included in inclusive minutes and discount schemes in the same way. Calls from landlines are typically charged between 2p and 10p per minute; calls from mobiles typically cost between 10p and 40p per minute. Calls from landlines and mobiles are included in free call packages.".

I'll check my BT 'anytime' bill in 48 hrs. Wink

Hello and welcome to SayNoTo0870.com.

The information from Ofcom is correct. All 03 numbers are charged at no more than geographic rate from all phone services (landline, mobile and payphone). They are also included in bundles or packages on the same terms.
