My main advice though to anyone who is a customer of First Utility and who has issues is to leave them as soon as they can.
I nearly once joined them because they claimed to be offering smart metering that would let me get readings for my gas and electricity meters online (via mobile phone transmission of the readings from the meters) that reside in a locked management company store room I do not normally have any access to.
Fortunately just as I was about to switch I found this promise was merely a ruse to gain customers and that First Utility never ever install the smart meters. They are also legendary for their behaviour in suckering customers in on one tariff and then stuffing them on to a much more expensive tariff a few weeks later. They are also notorious for never properly resolving biling disputes.
By contrast I helped move my mother's electricity supply to
www.isupplyenergy.co.uk about 15 months ago and they have been consistently problem free and yet continue to offer the lowest prices per unit. Also whilst they initially tried to offer only a web form for contact they soon realised this was not practical and introduced a phone number that is always answered in a timely manner.
