The number you quote is what they say is for Steam Generator Irons, not just steam irons. If it's NOT a steam generator does this work?

Swan sells these steam generator irons direct using an ST postcode, or through other sources with another postcode. (Look under the base for the code)

They are unaware that the law has changed in respct of 0871 numbers. The House of Commons briefing paper at para 1.7 - Number CPB5761, 20 October 2016 advises that 0871 numbers should not be used by traders to support their products.

If you did buy a Steam Generating iron from Swan and it has an ST postcode and you were forced to use the 0871 number then you can claim back the extra cost of dialling that number from Swan and this piece of legislation says that you can; para 41 of The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The relevant bit is;

"If in those circumstances a consumer who contacts a trader in relation to a contract is bound to pay more than the basic rate, the contract is to be treated as providing for the trader to pay to the consumer any amount by which the charge paid by the consumer for the call is more than the basic rate"

It won't let me show links as I've newly registered.

This law applies to ALL traders.

Hello there Whatso

Welcome to SayNoTo0870.com

I have just checked the Swan Brand website and can see that they still advertise an 0871 number for Teasmade and Steam Generator Irons, with NO information given as to the cost of calling these numbers.  In addition as pointed out in your post they are breaching the CC Regulations from 2013.

I have noticed that on their page here if you look below Can't find what your looking for there is a let us know button which opens up a contact window on the right hand side of the page.  I intend to give them feedback.
