Good Afternoon,

Sadly not much info has been provided, but I Googled Hitari and got Hitari Trade at www.hitari.co.uk.

After extensive searching I have not found an alternative number, however I did find their address which could be used to find the alternative: Unit 13 Magreal Industrial Estate, Freeth Street, Birmingham B16 0QZ

Have you tried contacting via e-mail?

This may take some finding, if we can, how long ago did you e-mail them?

Hi

I am sorry that you still have not received a reply from us.

Please send us an email at: info@hitari.co.uk and someone will get back to you on Monday if not already done so. You can always send us your telephone number and we will call you back if not able to call 0844 numbers (note: this charged at a standard national rate of only around 4p a minute, I believe)

Alternatively, please send me a private message with your details and email address and I will look into your query the earliest possible.

Thank you and I hope we can resolve your issue the earliest possible.

Kind Regards,
Kamal

Calls cost 4.2p/min plus VAT plus a 15p connection fee - but this applies only from BT landlines.

A three minute call will cost more than 30p.

Virgin Media landlines charge 12p/min plus a 16p connection fee for the same call.

A three minute call will cost more than 50p.

More than 50% of callers use mobile phones. They are charged 20p to 41p/min - mostly 35p/min or more.

A three minute call will cost most mobile callers more than than £1.

These figures are far more than the 4p/min you quote. Less than 40% of calls made from residential landlines are made via BT.

In particular, these calls are not included in call plan allowances so every call pushes up the callers bill.

Additionally, these are not "national rate" calls. They are far more expensive than a call to an 01 or 02 number.

Most people make calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers within an inclusive allowance (effectively "free").

Have you started making plans for migrating to the matching 0344 number?

This is charged exactly the same as a call to an 01 or 02 number and this applies to calls made from landlines and from mobiles.

Dear Kamal/Hitari firstly thanks for coming here and posting.  Just to let you know as Ian has posted already calls to 084 numbers can be VERY expensive and are certainly not National Rate (as that no longer exists).  Would you not be able to advertise a standard rate (01/02/03) contact number instead of the 084 number you advertise?

You have clearly taken your time to come here and to post, so it would be good to hear back from you.

Kind Regards.

The 0844 318 9601 number is a g6 one which means that from BT lines it costs a 15 pence Call Set-up fee plus 5.105 pence per minute. BT is an anomaly as far as the cost of calling 0844 numbers goes as it has regulation placed upon it which means it imposes zero Access Charge.

Ofcom is to introduce the Unbundled Tariff under which number users will have to declare their Service Charge. In the case of 0844 g6 numbers this is likely to be around 7 pence per minute. In principle the Service Charge exists now and the figure I've quoted is representative of that value.

It is also the case that the Consumer Rights Directive will mean that post-contract customer helplines will have to be charged at the basic rate. The UK law for this is to be published soon and companies will have six months in which to make necessary changes in order to comply.

If you really wanted callers to pay no more than they would to a geographic number then you should use either a geographic number or a 03 non-geographic number. All of these types of call are covered by inclusive bundles from landlines and mobiles alike.
