Youview 0845 - In Denial of EU C.Rights Directive
Feb 26th, 2015 at 1:24pm

Just to say that when i called the 020 3355 7955 listed by this website for YouView customer support they absolutely refused to put me through to customer services and instead insisted first that I contact my provider of the box and that it must be BT or TalkTalk.

When I told them it wasn't and that it was Plusnet (as part of a customer trial they have been running for 1 year but that has not gone live for all customers) they still tried to get me to call Plusnet about it.  Only when I said didn't they sell Youview boxes in the shops too and couldn't people buy them secondhand on Ebay etc (even if they came from Plusnet or TalkTalk customers originally) did they grudgingly give me a phone number of 0845 0992910.  But when I told Miss Sourpuss the YouView receptionist (which she was most definitely was from her whole attitude and would definitely be perfect for either prison warder or roadside speed camera van cop) that this was illegal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (as they are not a financial services company) and asked to speak to their Legal Affairs Director about their illegal use of 0845 numbers she refused to put me through.

So does anyone know of any way to get a geographic alternative to 0845 0992910 and do Dave or SilentCallsVictim have any explanation for me as to why a large company covered by the EU Consumer Rights Directive is only giving out an 0845 number for its customer support department?

Afternoon NGMsGhost,

I am not sure where that 020 number is from but I searched on-line for Youview and when Google presented the results I clicked on Support. I was taken to: https://support.youview.com/ I then clicked on the blue Contact Us button on the right hand side and the number presented is: 0333 313 2278.

Perhaps you can let us know how you get on?

Kind Regards,

EDIT: I can confirm that the 0333 number above answers with the exact same recording at the 0845 number you have given. I have updated the Database to include this number.   Smiley

My initial reaction to this is:
1. Of course you need to call Plusnet.
2. You are not allowed to post anything about the trial.
3. Neither am I!
