Why do you need an alternative number?

Calls to 03 numbers are inclusive from landlines and mobiles, else charged at 'geographic rate' - the same as for calls to 01 and 02 numbers.

Thanks. Because I have a free calls package that includes geo numbers but not 03 numbers.

Thanks

All suppliers are required to treat 03 numbers  the same as 01/02 numbers by Ofcom, and they  must be included in your Inclusive Minutes.

"03 numbers

In 2007 Ofcom also introduced UK-wide 03 numbers as an alternative to chargeable 08 numbers, such as 0870.

These new numbers allow organisations to have a single national point of contact without consumers having to pay extra to call them.

Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls.

These rules apply to calls from any type of line including mobile, BT, other fixed line or payphone

Revenue sharing - where the dialled party can receive a share of what the consumer pays to make a call - is also not allowed on calls to 03 numbers. "

Who is your current supplier ?

I have previously discussed this with them at length and I am otherwise happy with the good deal I have with them.

I do not think it appropriate to name them here or discuss them.

I asked for the geo number because the last time I made this call I was held on listening to naff music for 30 minutes.

It is the only 03 number call I make so if no-one has a geo  number I am content to use the 03.

Thanks for help.

If your telecoms provider is operating in breach of Ofcom rules, this must be corrected.

Good Morning JamesEB

That number relates to the NHS Business Service Authority (NHSBSA) who operate a number of helplines all with 03 numbers.  They list an alternative on their own website here which I might add is rather badly designed!  Shocked

Thanks that's a great help.

The 0300 number is also the general public NHS dental helpline
