The
Openreach WLR Price List says the wholesale price of a new WLR3 line is £31.90 exc. VAT, from the 1 April 2019 going down to £31.22.
Today BT Consumer charges residential end users who don't want broadband £140 (£116.67 ex. VAT).
This explains why my provider can charge £48 (£40 ex. VAT) for a new line – and this is on a rolling monthly contract (no 12-month minimum term).
BT charges "Calling Features" – which are Call Waiting, Call Diversion, Three-way Calling, Ring Back, Call Sign, Reminder Call and Call Barring – by how many one subscribes to.
One Feature is £5.50; two to four are £9.75, and; five or more features are £12.75.
Now, you might think that the ability to divert calls or have call waiting is a luxury. BT Consumer certainly thinks it should be.
However, the
Openreach WLR Price List tells us otherwise. All these at wholesale level cost…? Guess how much. 36p. That's 36 pence (ex. VAT) for each per month.
